Running the competition - MINI SO method
For 2021, we will be conducting our first ever purely digital tournament, in one of the formats outlined by the SOINC official website -- the Mini SO Method. This model requires all competitors to tune in through the internet to compete in their events, while also properly isolating at home. No travel is required. A detailed explanation of the Mini SO model is outlined here.
We are taking advantage of the Scilympiad Grading System in order to provide a fair, easy to use, Science-Olympiad oriented program.
More information about this model, as well as the system, will be revealed as we approach closer to the competition date. If you wish to be kept up to date on all Mira Loma SO Invitational information, please join our email list.
What about Build or In-Person Events? All Build events will be forfeited from the competition due to external factors which could influence the scoring of the event. Others have a few changes to the way they are run, outlined below:

TEAM REGISTRATION
Registration Date: September 19th, 2020 @ 12:00 PM PST
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
Also make sure to register on our Scilympiad website at this time, https://scilympiad.com/mlso. Whichever teams are selected will be taken off the waitlist on our Scilympiad website.
Registration Deadline: November 30th, 2020 @ 12:00 PM PST
Registration will be done electronically through Google Forms and Scilympiad. Register on Google Forms first since the order of submissions there will be taken into account. Once you register a team on Scilympiad, your team will be put on the waitlist, and after reviewing the Google Forms submissions, we will notify you via email and take you off the waitlist on Scilympiad. As of right now, a maximum of 60 C-division teams can participate, with Northern California schools prioritized; registration is limited to ONE TEAM per school. Most teams will be accepted based on location (to limit confusion between time zones), then order of registration.*
Unlike the last few years, we will NOT be requiring each team to run an event. However, we do encourage every team to provide some volunteer graders in order to make our invitational run more smoothly. Likewise, if there are empty events, head coaches may be asked to fill in the spots so as the event is not cancelled.
*Note: As this is an invitational, certain teams may be given historic priority for registration/may exceed the limits previously stated. All additional teams will be added to a waitlist, and depending on how other tournaments run, we may open up more spots.

SCHEDULE
Although the invitational is being run online, the schedule will follow as close to a traditional tournament as possible. This means that all events will be run on Saturday, January 9th, with time blocks. Keep in mind that one student should not exceed more than 6 events in order to prevent conflicts. This organization of events might differ from other invitationals, but will follow the official Nationals schedule.
Schedule: Both Version 1 and Version 2 have the same information, just organized differently.
